Set of 4 Uranium Glass Martini Glasses & Pitcher
Commonly known as Depression Glass, uranium glass was mostly manufactured during the Great Depression (late 1920’s and 1930’s) era in the U.S., hence the name, “depression glass.”
This type of glass was made using uranium; although, how much uranium it contained varied from piece to piece. Uranium glass has become more and more popular in recent years, one of reasons for its sudden surge in popularity is due to its ability to glow under UV/blacklight.
How much or how little a piece of glass glows under black light is contingent upon how much uranium that piece of glass actually contains. The higher the concentration of uranium in the glass, the more vibrant the glow will be under UV light.
Available for purchase today is a set of four martini glasses, as well as a matching drink pitcher and a matching etched jar. The design on these glasses & pitcher is a floral etching done by hand. This set is thought to have been made sometime in the 1920’s or the early 1930’s. Measurements for each of the items is listed below.
